The Assessment Process

Understanding the Assessment Process

1

The process begins with an intake session at our office in The Hague. This meeting, lasting 1 to 1.5 hours, usually involves both the parents and the child/adolescent. During this session, we take the time to fully understand your concerns, gather important background information, and determine the most appropriate next steps.

2

Based on the insights gained from the intake, we will proceed with either a comprehensive assessment or refer you for psychological support with our team. If necessary, we can refer you to a specialized professional, such as a psychiatrist, speech-language therapist, physiotherapist, or occupational therapist.

3

The assessment process can range from 1.5 to 8 hours, depending on the specific concerns and areas being evaluated.

Our assessments may investigate:

Cognitive Abilities – such as IQ

Neuropsychological Functions – including executive functioning, memory, visual processing, sensorimotor skills, social perception, and attention span

Academic Performance – assessing age-appropriate skills in reading, writing, and mathematics

Social & Emotional Well-Being – evaluating mood, behavior, and social interactions

4

Once we have gathered all the necessary information, it takes us 4 to 6 weeks to complete the assessment report. We then schedule a report meeting at our office to discuss our findings and recommendations. Our reports are tailored to provide practical and detailed recommendations for both home and school. Following the report meeting, if necessary, we can arrange an additional school meeting with parents, teachers, and/or counselors to ensure the best possible support for your child’s or adolescent's learning and development.
