The Child Assessment Group is run by an experienced team of international, highly educated, enthusiastic professional psychologists. Our team members come from and lived in countries around the world, and offer services in multiple languages, including English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Hans Hogewind is the founder of the Child Assessment Group. He also works as a clinical psychologist (restricted through the Individual Healthcare Professions Act). For two years he lived and worked in Shanghai with children from expatriate families. He received referrals from various international schools in Shanghai. Hans has extensive experience with diagnosis of children and adolescents, as well as supporting adolescents and families. Hans has an honors degree in Clinical Developmental Psychology and School Psychology from the University of Amsterdam. He is also a licenced Cognitive Behavioral Therapist ® (VGCT) and EMDR Europe practitioner ®.
As a practising Psychologist, Hans' main motivation, is to help children and adolescents develop in a healthy and normal way. Although this might sound obvious many children are in fact facing challenges that prevent them from growing up in a happy, loving and supportive environment. Hans is able to determine the cause of the challenges and propose potential solutions that will help a child to be successful at both school and home. Hans sees it as his duty to support children and their parents explore struggles together, to find possible solutions to help the child cycle smoothly through life.

Angela Alegre Sanz works as a child psychologist supporting children and adolescents overcome cognitive, academic, behavioural and/or social-emotional challenges at home or at school. She has obtained a Masters degree in Child and Adolescent Psychology and has a background in Clinical Neuropsychology. She is also trained as a Jungle Memory and Aquasnap coach, and in the Kid’s Skills method. She also works as a psychologist at a private practice providing therapy services for children and adolescents.
She was born in Spain where she grew up as part of a multi-cultural family. She also lived one year in the United States before moving to the Netherlands to pursue her academic studies. Being part of the Expat Community herself, she has focused on providing psychological testing and therapy to international families. Angela strives to provide children and adolescents with the support they need to reach their full potential. She also focuses on aiding in the communication between all the people involved in a child’s life. Given her experience with the international community, she is strong in taking into account the cultural background and extraordinary life experiences of the family in order to have the full picture of each child.

Sophia Franssen works as a child and adolescents therapist (GZ-Psychologist) with a focus on trauma, attachment and personality disorders. Her aim is to help the people she works with to understand and overcome their difficulties. She is a licensed Cognitive Behavioral Therapist ® (VGCt) and an EMDR Europe practitioner ®.
Sophia grew up in Nijmegen, studied at the University of Groningen and has worked in disabled- and youth care before continuing her career in mental health care. She enjoys reading English novels and hiking.

Sara Nóbrega was born and raised in Portugal, where she started her career in caregiving by working as a children's monitor and babysitter from a young age, and later on as a special needs assistant at an an international school. She pursued her studies in Child and Adolescent Psychology, during which she started having a passion for understanding and demystifying the underlying causes behind children's challenges, and helping them reach their full potential.
Being an expat herself, Sara has been surrounded by the international community, both personally and professionally, which brings her insights into the unique challenges this life entails. She believes that children's difficulties and development should be looked at in the context of all aspects and systems of children's lives, integrating biological, social, and cultural elements.
Besides her work for the Child Assessment Group, Sara works as an educator for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related disorders, providing 1-1 treatment using DIR/Floortime approaches.

Alba Carrasco was born in Spain, where she began her career in the field of clinical psychology, working with children and parents facing various difficulties. While pursuing her University Degree, she moved as an international student to Utrecht University, where she fell in love with the Netherlands and learned to work in multicultural environments, both personally and professionally.
Alba has experience working on projects dedicated to assessing and improving executive functions and emotional variables in children, as well as providing psychological therapy for clinical disorders in children and adolescents. Her main goal in her work is to provide a better understanding and personalized knowledge of the variables that can influence the development and well-being of children and adolescents, as well as to offer strategies that facilitate their adaptation and help them reach their potential.

Louis Kelly works as a child psychologist supporting children and adolescents facing social-emotional, behavioural, and cognitive challenges at home and school. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Amsterdam and earned his Master’s degree in Child and Adolescent Psychology from Leiden University. Louis has experience in clinical and educational settings, including psychodiagnostic assessment in the Netherlands.
Originally from Ireland, Louis moved to the United States at age 16, where he adapted to a large international high school before returning to Dublin a year later. He also lived and worked as an au pair in Spain, gaining valuable insight into family dynamics and child development within a multicultural context. These experiences provide him with a unique understanding of the challenges faced by many of the international children and families he works with today.
Louis is committed to helping children and their families identify the underlying causes of difficulties and to find practical, supportive solutions. He strives to create a collaborative and compassionate environment that enables children to grow, thrive, and reach their full potential both academically and socially.
